About the Artform
The art originates from the land of Kutch in the state of Gujarat. Lippan in local Gujarati means 'clay' or 'dung'. People in the Kutch region live in round mud houses called 'bhungas'. They decorate the outer walls with mud and mirror work. This art is known as Lippan Kaam or Chhittar Kaam.
