About the Artform

Gilding is a decorative technique for applying a very thin coating of gold to solid surfaces such as metal (most common), wood, canvas, MDF, porcelain, or stone. Gold leaf is gold that has been hammered into thin sheets by gold beating and is often used for gilding. Layering gold leaf over a surface is called gold leafing or gilding. And it gives an object a gold appearance at a fraction of the cost of creating a solid gold object. 

About the Session

In this session, you will learn about the art form starting with an introduction to the process of Gilding, Preparation and Prime the Surface, applying Adhesive on Leaf, Finishing, and Protection. You will learn how to prepare Canvas for painting, create textures and layers with different art mediums and colors, use Gold Leaf to get the most wonderful effect, and add little something for a professional look to your project.
This is a 'beginner-friendly' session. (Age: 12+).
