About the Workshop

Origami is the Japanese craft of folding paper to make two-dimensional and three-dimensional objects. The word origami is derived from two Japanese words - 'oru' which means to fold and 'kami' which means paper.

Europe also has a history of this art as napkin folding was highly respected. The art is very versatile. One can make objects ranging from a crane to a retractable roof. Anything is possible!

This workshop will introduce you to the basics of origami and the various techniques used. You will learn to make traditional objects like the crane, butterfly, lotus, crab and many more such models. This will challenge your creative skills and put your motor skills to the test!

You will also be taught some hacks and tricks regarding the folds of origami. You can then use them to create some more beautiful models.

About the Artist

Aditi Anuj
@aditianuj

Like any other child, she too folded boats and planes to play with, blissfully oblivious of the fact that in the future, she would pursue a career in Origami. The Masters degree in Textiles from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad made her appreciate the beauty as well as the hard work that goes behind handmade crafts. For the past 7 years, she has been teaching origami to children, college students, mothers, working professionals as well as grandparents! She has come to love the fact that everyone has something to take away from the art. Other than paper, she also uses mediums like leather, polypropylene and textile, to provide longevity to the product.
