About the Artform
Weaving is a method of textile production where two distinct sets of yarns are interlaced, usually at right angles to make a piece of cloth. The craft of weaving has been mentioned in the ancient Vedas with references to hiranya which translates to a cloth made of gold. In addition to having a rich history, weaving is considered to be a mindful activity. It is known to have a calming effect on people. Things that we use on a daily basis like clothes, carpets, coasters, and baskets are all products crafted by weaving.
