About the Artform
Botanical art and illustration have a history spanning thousands of years, from limestone have relief carvings to the intricate plant depictions of Arthur Harry Church in the early 20th Century. This is when people began to use illustrations to identify plants and flowers. In the Victorian era, the trend in botanical art was to be more decorative and less natural.
