About the Artform

Hand embroidery has its origin dating back to the 3rd Century BC. Basics of Embroidery are used even today using stitches like Running Stitch, Back Stitch, Stem Stitch, Chain Stitch, Satin Stitch, Fly Stitch, French Knots, and their variations. In the Modern Era, Embroidery can be done on dresses, blouses, suits, denim, coats, shirts, sweatshirts, hats, scarves, cushion covers, table runners, etc. There are a wide variety of yarns and fabrics available to embroider.

About the Session

In this session, you will learn about Basic Embroidery, this session will cover a design that is made up of 9 panels with 9 basic stitches and their variations you will learn as you progress. There will be a basic application to each stitch followed by a variation – so that you can practice various ways of using it when you embroider it in real-time. A Step-by-Step Tutorial will be shown with each stitch along with tips and tricks to embroider. You will be amazed and happy to see how quickly you will learn and soon fall in love with embroidery!
This is a 'beginner-friendly' session. (Age: 13+).

After a successful career of 25+ years in Fashion Designing and Product Development, she started Hazel Embroidery Designs in 2020. She learnt the craft from her mother and belives embroidery to be the perfect stress buster and source of art therapy. She loves creating her own designs and conducts video tutorials where she spreads her love for embroidery to other art enthusiasts. She also has a club where she organizes monthly Stitch Along events.

  • 1/2 meter Cotton Casement Fabric
  • Number 7 and 9 Embroidery Needles
  • Anchor Yarn in any 6 Different Colors of your preference
  • Scissors to trim fabric and thread
  • Pen and Pencil and Sharpener
  • 12"" Ruler
  • Wood or Plastic Embroidery ring/frame/hoop 6"" - 8"" diameter
