About the Artform

Madhubani is an Indian artform that originated in the Mithila region of Bihar. The name translates to "Forest of honey". These paintings are often characterized by complex geometrical patterns and vibrant colours. They are well known for representing ritual content and are mostly made using organic items such as natural colours, twigs, sticks etc.

About the Session

In this session, you will learn about the introduction of Madhubani, learn basic motifs and shapes used and make colorful bookmarks showcasing authentic Madhubani elements.
This is a 'beginner-friendly' session. (Age: 15+).

A self-taught Madhubani artist, Shamli Das has her own take on Madhubani, while maintaining the essence of the artform. The finesse, attention to detail and the happiness seen in her designs can mesmerize anyone. She frequently conducts Madhubani workshops for both adults and kids.
