About the Artform

Hand Lettering is the art of drawing and creating decorative letters with basic tools such as a pencil or a pen. The art allows for more freedom in the interpretation of letters and fonts and employs the use of different strokes, designs, and letter-drawing styles to create unique art pieces with language at the center. In this workshop, you will get an overview of Hand Lettering art, understand the materials used, learn the difference between Hand Lettering, Calligraphy, and the respective fonts, understand the different styles involved in Hand Lettering, and learn 3 common lettering styles and their guidelines, get introduced to compositions and layout and create a hand-lettered quote using the different styles. 

About the Session

In this session, you will learn about the art form starting with an introduction to hand lettering, Basic styles, Formation inside the shape, Incorporating them into different shapes, and Formation of a final quote.
This is a 'beginner-friendly' session. (Age: 12+).

She is a self-taught calligraphy and hand-lettering artist from Kolkata. The city's rich literary heritage inspired her to pursue the art of writing in the form of handwritten letters and notes. She aims to bring out the essence of calligraphy, which might look luxurious, but is actually very simple. Now she has conducted lives sessions and over 100+ workshops both offline and online.
