About the Artform
Ink illustration is one of the oldest art forms. In earlier centuries illustrations were done using ink-dipped brushes and wooden sticks. Illustrating with pen and ink allows the artist to create strong areas of contrast as compared to pencil shading. Most ink drawings are completed using black inks on white surfaces which leads to heavy contrast in value.
