About the Artform

Miniature paintings originated in India in 750 AD. Since then, it has been used to narrate Buddhist teachings, showcase the Mughal empire and illustrate scenes from epics like the Mahabharata and the life of Lord Krishna. The artform is distinctly set apart from other traditional Indian artforms with its delicate brushwork, microscopic details and a comparatively subtle color palette.
