Botanical art and illustration has a history spanning thousands of years, from limestone has relief carvings to the intricate plant depictions of Arthur Harry Church in the early 20th Century. This is when people began to use illustrations to identify plants and flowers. In the Victorian era, the trend in botanical art was to be more decorative and less natural.

An MBA graduate from Middlesex University, Ridhima pursued her passion for art by working as a Henna artist and attending an abstract expression art course in London. She is an expert at acrylics, organic paints and watercolors among others. She started Artroom Kolkata in 2017 with her partner Pritha to spread their love of art and encourage creativity among people.
